1. Make sure your child wears a helmet, but also make sure they understand that wearing a helmet doesn't give them license to be reckess.
2. Dress in layers, which allows you to accommodate your body's constantly changing temperature.
3. Wear sun protection, even on cloudy days. The sun reflects off the snow and can give you a nasty sun burn!
4. Have sunglasses and goggles--skiing is very dangerous if you can't see!
5. Be sure you child has contact information, including your hotel and cell phone number.
6. Put your kids in ski school to get them on the right track and make sure your kids learn how to get on and off a lift while they are in ski school.
7. Make sure your child knows when to stop skiing. If their clothing is wet, there are problems with their equipment, or they are tired they should take a break or stop for the day.
8. Make a meeting place if you get separated.
9. Check out www.lidsonkids.org for more safety tips and other good information.

People ahead of you have the right of way. It is your responsibility to avoid them.
You must not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
Whenever starting downhill or merging into a trail, look uphill and yield to others.
Always use devices to help prevent runaway equipment.
Observe all posted signs and warnings. Keep off closed trails and out of closed areas.
Prior to using any lift, you must have the knowledge and ability to load, ride and unload safely.
